Writing shouldn't mean fighting with your formatting tools. Today we're rolling out a new Visual Text block — with independent font sizing, per-paragraph alignment, and a toolbar that stays out of your way until you need it.

What's new

The new Visual Text block brings finer-grained control to writing text content:

• Font sizes — resize any selection independently of its heading level, so you're no longer limited to whatever size a heading implies
• Text alignment — left, center, right, or justify, set per paragraph instead of for the whole block
• Headings, bold, italic, and links — the essentials you already know, still one click away
• Bulleted and numbered lists — for steps, options, or roundups
• Quotes — call out a key line or pull quote
• Undo and redo — built into the toolbar, not just keyboard shortcuts

How it works

Select any text and a toolbar appears with the format dropdown, font size, alignment, and the rest of the tools above. Changes apply instantly as you select them — nudge the font size up for emphasis without changing the heading, center a single paragraph, or drop in a link — and undo/redo are always available in the toolbar if you want to backtrack.

Upgrading existing Text blocks

Already have Text blocks on your site? They still work exactly as before — you'll now see them labeled Text V1. Each one has an Upgrade to V2 button that converts it to the new Visual Text block in place. If anything doesn't look right after upgrading, a Revert to V1 button is available for one hour after the conversion, so you can switch back without losing your original content.

Try it

Open any page or post, click Add Block, and choose Text V2 to start writing with the new Visual Text block.
